Heart of the Beast review
Pitt and loyal hound Odin get stuck in remote Alaska in this serviceable adventure with hints of Jack London and Marley & Me
TL;DR
- Brad Pitt stars as Belmont, a retired special forces veteran, and his service dog, Odin, in an Alaskan survivalist drama.
- The film features a mix of sentimentality and thrills, focusing on the deep bond between man and dog.
- Belmont and Odin undertake an extraordinary journey on foot across rough terrain after a dramatic event.
- Visual effects are used for animal encounters, though they slightly detract from the feeling of real jeopardy.
- The story explores themes of loneliness and companionship, evoking the hardihood of Jack London.
