TL;DR
- Hamam al Hamami allegedly used a cockpit emergency ax against the plane's captain during a flight to Israel.
- His deleted X account contained thousands of misogynistic posts, some with violent rhetoric, from late 2021 to October 2022.
- The posts combined extremist Islamic interpretations with manosphere ideologies, denigrating women and men who associated with them.
- Al Hamami expressed specific criteria for a wife, seeking a religious, Saudi, tribal woman willing to wear a face cover and not seek work.
- He was previously investigated by the Omani government for visiting radical websites and was transferred from pilot training to an office job at Oman Air.
- FlyDubai hired al Hamami without vetting him with the Omani government, despite his online history.
- Israeli investigators are treating the incident as a potential lone wolf terror attack.
- Al Hamami is undergoing interrogation by Israeli and UAE authorities in the UAE.
