Isak completes Liverpool’s comeback win as Brentford finish with nine
If Liverpool’s spluttering forwards end up remembering this as the day when their luck turned then they will owe a big debt of gratitude to Yehor Yarmolyuk. This was a game with a very clear before and after.
TL;DR
- Brentford lost 2-1 to Liverpool after having two players sent off: Yehor Yarmolyuk and Vitaly Janelt.
- Yarmolyuk received a red card for a butt on Jérémy Jacquet, and Janelt was sent off for a second yellow.
- Florian Wirtz provided two assists in the second half, setting up Victor Muñoz's equalizer and Bradley Barcola's goal that led to Alexander Isak's winner.
- Liverpool's attack, valued at close to £400m, struggled initially but found its rhythm after Brentford went down to 10 men.
- Brentford took the lead through Keane Lewis-Potter in the first half but couldn't hold on after losing players.
