A Zack Snyder DC Universe Might Not Have Been Such a Bad Thing, After All
After Joss Whedon’s arrival, back in the news with comments from Ben Affleck, the franchise lost a sense of earnest passion that could have sustained a weary DCEU
TL;DR
- Ben Affleck has called the Justice League reshoots the lowest point of his career, criticizing how Warner Bros. allegedly used Zack Snyder's family tragedy as a pretext to replace him.
- Affleck's comments suggest the studio's actions were 'gross' and contributed to the departure of Snyder, who had directed the initial part of the film.
- Other actors, including Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot, have previously accused Joss Whedon of abusive behavior during Justice League's production, though Whedon has denied these allegations.
- The film's troubled production and subsequent box office performance marked a significant downturn for the DCEU, with only Aquaman crossing $500m worldwide after Justice League.
- Affleck expressed satisfaction with Snyder eventually releasing his own four-hour version of Justice League, which became a draw for HBO Max.
