Apocalypse: this end-of-days survival show is an absolute slam dunk
Geeks, toffs and biceps go to war in a wild survival experiment that answers that eternal question: if society collapsed, could you cope? This is going to be huge!
TL;DR
- The reality show 'Apocalypse' simulates societal collapse by dropping seven strangers into an abandoned town with no access to phones, electricity, or infrastructure.
- Contestants, representing different 'types' like a content creator and a mechanic, face challenges of resource scarcity, leading to conflict and tribalism.
- The show explores themes of human nature, survival, and the potential for depravity when the rule of law is removed.
- The urban survival setting is unique compared to traditional wilderness survival shows and feels relevant due to current global anxieties.
- The author finds the show depressing but anticipates its popularity due to its exploration of a commonly considered 'what if' scenario.
